Waiting on Wednesday: Bamboo People + Winner!

The winner of my Nice (not Mean) Giveaway is....

Tia B!

Congrats Tia. I'll be emailing you shortly. Thank you everyone for entering :)

I asked people to name a movie (and the character from that movie) that deals with being Nice and/or Mean and most people mentioned a character from Mean Girls or Heathers. I love Mean Girls and I still need to see Heathers. Someone mentioned Kathryn from Cruel Intentions, which is one of my favorite movies! A must- see because it is so sweet, twisted, nice and mean ;)

I also highly recommend people read this post in the What A Girl Wants series at Chasing Ray, it's about YA literature and "bad girls"

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted and created by Jill at Breaking the Spine. This week is you-should-be-waiting-on....

Bamboo People by Mitali Perkins

Release Date: July 1, 2010

What would you do if your mother were hungry and your only option to feed her was to fight in the army? What about if you saw soldiers burning your home and farm while you ran for your life? Wouldn’t you be terrified, like Chiko? Wouldn’t you be angry, like Tu Reh?

Narrated by two boys on opposing sides of the conflict between the Burmese government and the Karenni, one of Burma's many ethnic minorities, this coming-of-age novel takes place against the political and military backdrop of modern-day Burma.

-Summary from Goodreads.com Even though I haven't read this yet (I do own it though and it will be read very soon), you should be waiting on this book. Just reading the description makes me want to read the whole book right now, what's more the author is THE Mitali Perkins. Mitali is an amazing writer, blogger and so much more. Therefore, this book will probably be a must read.

What books are you waiting on this week? Any about POC?
