Native American Heritage Month Wrap-Up & Read-A-Thon

Native American Heritage Month ended a few days ago (Nov.30).
Here are the links to all my reviews concerning Native American culture throughout the month of November.

My introductory post: Native American Heritage Month Nov. 1, 2009
Nov. 12, 2009 I Am Apache by Tanya Landman 1.5/5

Nov. 16, 2009 Who Will Tell My Brother? by Marlene Carvell 5/5

Nov. 23, 2009 March Toward The Thunder by Joseph Bruchac 5/5

Nov. 29, 2009 Sorceress by Celia Rees 4/5

Nov. 30, 2009 CodeTalker by Joseph Bruchac 5/5

I just reviewed (Dec.3) Minuk: Ashes in the Pathway by Kirkpatrick Hill about the Yup'ik Eskimos in Alaska.

Also my November MG book of the month is about a group of Guatemalan Native people (the Quiche), Journey of Dreams.

All in all, I read some fabulous books this month and I don't intend on stopping. Remember to read books about Native Americans all year round :) I still want to read Sweetgrass Basket by Marlene Carvel, Rain Is Not My Indian Name by Cynthia Leitich Smith and anything by Joseph Bruchac!

24-Hour Read-A-Thon

Tonight at 11 PM CT I will start my read-a-thon and continue till 11 PM tomorrow. The real read-a-thon starts tomorrow (Sat.) and continues till Sunday. I will do another post once I start reading and share a list of my books that I'm reading. Wish me luck!

  3. I just read Rain Is Not My Indian Name this weekend. I think it is maybe the first book ever where I pinged on the main character as being "like me."
