Waiting on Wednesday: The Magical Misadventures of Prunella Bogthistle

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

This week I'm waiting on....

The Magical Misadventures of Prunella Bogthistle by Deva Fagan

Release Date: May 25, 2010

All Prunella wants is to be a proper bog-witch. Unfortunately, her curses tend to do more good than harm. When her mixed-up magic allows a sneaky thief to escape her grandmother’s garden, Prunella is cast out until she can prove herself.

It’s hard enough being exiled to the unmagical Uplands, but traveling with the smug young thief Barnaby is even worse. He’s determined to gain fame and fortune by recovering the missing Mirable Chalice. And to get what she wants, Prunella must help him, like it or not.

-A POC witch? I want now please :) Seriously though, this MG novel sounds cute and it's been a long time since I read about witches, so I'm looking forward to this one.

  1. This looks cute. I have another book by the author that I haven't read yet, this sounds a bit like a fairy tale story which I love.

  2. I was so surprised to see a 2010 publishing date on this one - it definitely has a much older feel to it, something like Lewis' 70's Narnia books or even the yellow Nancy Drew hardcovers. Nonetheless, it is wonderful to see a dark-skinned protagonist on the cover - and I sure love all things witch-y! Thanks for highlighting this one.

  3. This book sounds fun! It's definitely one I would've picked up as a kid--I read anything and everything about witches back then. (Well, except for Harry Potter. Heh.) I'll have to keep my eye out for this book. :)

  6. @Rebecca-It does look and sound like a fiarytale. I've heard the author's other books are good, I may have to check them out.

    @Natalie-I didn't think of that, but I agree! It does have a very old school cover feel to it. Which I like :)

    @HeatherH-Same here, I read all things witchy and then I stopped once I became a teen =/

    @Jenny-I know, I'm excited to read it =)

    @Doret-Glad to hear you enjoyed her first book. I have high hopes for this one then.

    @Tarie-I second that!
