The Treats....
2 Wonderfully Scary Books (actually they aren't scary, just so wonderful that it's scary :D) 1 Lucky Winner
Eternal & Asleep
Eternal by Cynthia Leitich Smith
At last, Miranda is the life of the party: all she had to do was die. Elevated and adopted by none other than the reigning King of the Mantle of Dracul, Miranda goes from high-school theater wannabe to glamorous royal fiend overnight. Meanwhile, her reckless and adoring guardian angel, Zachary, demoted to human guise as the princess’s personal assistant, has his work cut out for him trying to save his girl’s soul and plan the Master’s fast-approaching Death Day gala. In alternating points of view, Miranda and Zachary navigate a cut-throat eternal aristocracy as they play out a dangerous and darkly hilarious love story for the ages.

Asleep by Wendy Raven McNair
Adisa Summers doesn't know her boyfriend, Micah Alexander, can fly. Micah's odd emotionless behavior, rigid posture, and vacant eyes are a mystery sending mixed messages to Adisa. When a flash of lightning sends a tree crashing down on her, Adisa is shocked to see Micah actually flying to her rescue! In an instant, Adisa is in his arms, looking up at the sky over his shoulder as they fly parallel to the ground. Micah shifts, shielding her completely with his body. As the tree explodes against Micah's back, Adisa feels him shudder with the impact and the air fills with wood chips and sawdust. Miraculously, they aren't smashed into the ground. They safely continue flying. Micah finally begins to open up to Adisa about his secret life as a superbeing and she discovers another shocking secret. Micah burns for her--literally as well as figuratively. ASLEEP is a superhero teen love story set in modern day Atlanta that's filled with thrills, romance, and suspense.

ReplyDeleteQ: If you were a superhero what special power would you want?

+2 I am an old blogger follower!
+2 Fledgling by Octavia E. Butler (Some people consider this a YA book and some don’t.) Also, A Wish After Midnight by Zetta Elliott.

+1 My creative post having to do with Halloween! Basically, I found a post relating to zombies that had the question ‘Why are zombies cool?’! So, I went through and quoted my favorite comments! I plan to ask this question on other social networks and get more comments to add to it. I also found some funny Zombie Icons and added them to my post. (Please, feel free to come and comment on why you think zombies are cool. Your comment might even get quoted in my post!!) http://gimmethatbookbeforeipunchyou.blogspot.com/2009/10/why-zombies-are-cool-quotes.html

The entries were fun :D
I feel so bad that you've spent so much on books, to give away at that! I review books from my library. That's why I don't do many giveaways, because they're not mine! Books that I acquire which are not ARCs go straight into my library.
ReplyDeleteI suggest you let your school librarian and public librarian see you blog so that they can see a reason to get books to you so that you can review them.
The policy concerning ARCs and "free" books (nothing is free) is about to change. Given your student status, you may not have to worry about it too much, but you'll need to look into it. Blogging should be fun!

I would rather be an angel. There is no drinking of blood involved, which is a major turnoff in being a vampire! And plus, it would be cool to have wings.

+1 Thinking of something creative having to do with Halloween and leaving a comment (or a link). It can be anything Halloween related. Funny, scary, a book giveaway, whatever. - My best friend and I have a tradition of dressing up as our own characters, especially from our NaNoWriMo novels! Last year was especially fun because there was a party at her house and about 20 people ended up running around in her back yard spraying each other with silly string and shaving cream. My friend and I didn't get there in time to get a can, so we threw peanuts and sprayed people with one of those plant-spraying bottles.
