I fully intend on reading the rest of them though so I will let everyone know if I can figure out how they are related! It was painfully real, but so worth the read.

@Helen-It's perfect for guys and girls and it can best be described in all capitals ;) I'm thrilled that you recommend it to all your students.

@AshleyPerez-I could totally see myself being even more touched by this novel if I was a parent.

I just looked up Holding onto Max and it sounds very similar to First Part Last except for the parts about the mom. I wonder if the main characters make the same decision..?

@Jenny-Yup yup. I finished this book and closed it slowly, just savoring it and saying goodbye to the characters =D

@TheBrainLair-I don't hear as much about Heaven but I've heard a lot of good things about Sweet Hereafter. I'll read Heaven next though and I look forward to it. I'm always left in awe at writers who can write such short prose while still making a point!

@GreenBeanTeenQueen-I just commented on your review before I saw this comment :D I feel as though I might have cried if I had listened to it on audio. Defnitely would have if this was a movie and there was a cute father and adorable baby daughter. lol

Thanks to Ashley Perez I learned about another title about a teen father but that's only 2 titles about teen pregnancy from the guy's pov and I can think of at least 5 books about teenage mothers off the top of my headMissAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11042352415616854651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5255886452367019317.post-88551780054825785992010-12-17T14:31:22.599-06:002010-12-17T14:31:22.599-06:00I didn't realize it was part of a series eithe...I didn't realize it was part of a series either. Too funny that you reviewed this-I just started it on audio! I really like it especially since when do we ever see a teen pregnancy book from the guy's point of view?GreenBeanTeenQueenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08708155058381407531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5255886452367019317.post-71504185686050932002010-12-15T15:44:52.758-06:002010-12-15T15:44:52.758-06:00I loved both Heaven and First Part last and cried ...I loved both Heaven and First Part last and cried and keep trying to get students to read them! Like you, I feel like the book makes you see the protag as a parent who happens to be a teen, not necessarily as a teen-parent.

Another book to check out is Hanging on to Max by Margaret Bechard. It also features a teen dad, although the situation is a bit different, as is the style. I read it quite some time ago, but I still remember several passages of it, which is always a good sign!Ashley Hope Pérezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15991064798582078393noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5255886452367019317.post-84725013178596593232010-12-13T07:44:43.777-06:002010-12-13T07:44:43.777-06:00This book is SO good; I was very impressed when I ...This book is SO good; I was very impressed when I read it and I recommend it to students all the time. (They are both set in Ohio...)

I was really impressed with this book though, it felt painfully real, and I thought Bobby's character especially to be well written.Ashleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07895603279815878376noreply@blogger.com
